Feels like it's been a hectic week with new work, big business ideas, meetings and plans as well as trying to be a calm lovely Mummy. I was starting to get a bit panicky about getting everything done but I finally got to take a look at things today as I have 2 stalls to do next week. I am really pleased with my new designs and made sure I have a bit of everything ready to show so feel back in control...phew!

This is my wee lassie to go with my wee man!

I also managed to go out to meet a friend and remembered how pleasurable a couple of glasses of wine and a good chat are. I now feel fully refreshed for another round of business matters...also a tiny bit drunk!!

It's a NO!

I just got a rejection from a card shop I really like, the good news is my cards had reached the right person! I am quite disapointed but my main upset is not the rejection itself, which I find I can handle quite well, but I do not like the fact that for the second time I have been sent an email like this where they haven't even bothered to add my name to quite a standard message before sending it to me! Maybe it's just me but I think that is a bit rude. Anyway, apologies that my blog seems to be the place I get to rant a bit but I needed to get that off my chest.

I have been doing lots of new creative things, inspired by the beautiful sunshine so am generally feeling quite happy with the world...as long as the world accepts I do have a name!

My babies!

I'm starting to get a bit anxious. I have left cards in several shops and I now wonder if they will make it to the correct people or just get lost. Feels a tiny bit like I've left my little babies for the first time and don't know if they will be ok!

I did have one more success in a gallery. They are going to put some of my cards in there for sale from July onwards ready for the Edinburgh Festival so thats great.

I've also been busy with orders which is brilliant. I've got a personalised babygro to do this afternoon for a little girl and I have just finished a set of personalised cards. I'm really enjoying creating new work for people. Unfortunately I've also got a bit of boring legal stuff to look into so I better stop distracting myself blogging and get on with it...

Making Appointments?

Called in to another shop today that I would love to get my cards into. I got a bit anxious but gritted my teeth, smiled and said my bit. Unfortunately the manager wasn't there so I left a bit of info and a couple of cards.  I have got a lot of work done this afternoon though as I've been distracting myself so that I can't keep watching the phone for a response!

I do like the spontaneity of just calling in and I do feel like people are more open when they meet you and see your work but it is a little bit frustrating if you don't get to see them at all! So I'm not sure now if my top tip is still to just go in OR if it should be to call ahead first...!?!

I've left my 'wee man' which has been my big hit at lots of places so fingers crossed.

More shop deliveries!!

Just been into a lovely card and gift shop called The Cove, to show them my wares and they took the lot! So if anyone is in the Portobello area do go and look at all my goods. SamMillerUK's quest for world domination is taking off!!!

It is surprising me how lovely shop keepers are generally and I can't believe I had such a fear of doing this. My top tip for today is just go and show people your work. What's the worst that can happen?

First shop Delivery!

I delivered my cards to The Bay Tree Company in Bruntsfield, Edinburgh yesterday. The ladies in there were really lovely so I really hope they sell well. Feels good to be in a proper public place. I would recommend biting the bullet, facing your fears and just getting out there! Plan to visit lots more shops very soon!

Shop sales!!

I am feeling so excited. I dared to go into my first card shop today and showed a few samples. The 2 ladies were so lovely in there and have put in an order for 48 cards. I am so excited about it. They were so nice they even gave me a very cute plaster for a cut on my hand!
